The story

Forty-two thousand pledged against a two-hundred-thousand goal, and the board is ready to cut Hana Nakamura's emerging artists program. Julian Crewe isn't on the guest list. The collector invites himself, asks what a painter is afraid of, and looks at Hana instead of the porcelain. For one honest drink he will fund the whole program for three years, and he makes the gift irrevocable before she answers. At his penthouse he offers to call her a car. Hana doesn't want the car. She wants the part he is trying so hard not to take.
